Monterey Bay microclimates: Santa Cruz proper enjoys a mild marine climate year-round — morning fog burns off by midday most months. The Westside (Pleasure Point, the lighthouse field) stays foggier and cooler than downtown; up in the redwoods (Felton, Boulder Creek) it's significantly cooler and damper. Watsonville and the Pajaro Valley can run 10°F warmer than the coast on summer afternoons.
